Industry engagement and entrepreneurship

The Centre continually seeks ways to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship for our researchers at all stages of their careers through our industry engagement program.

The program also supports the management and commercial exploitation of intellectual property developed from Centre research. We have secured industry and end-user representation, as well as representation from the commercialising group of each collaborating organisation.

Industry and innovation in Israel

Israel has become a global, dynamic technology hub and is considered one of the world’s leading startup nations. Exposing our Brain Function CoE researchers to this environment encourages their entrepreneurial minds and assists those working on braintech innovations.

Our Director, Professor Gary Egan, led a successful industry and innovation trip to Israel in 2017. Planning is now underway to take a larger delegation of Brain Function CoE researchers to Israel in 2019. During the 2019 trip, the researchers will attend a BrainTech conference, participate in an Australia/Israel neuroscience workshop, visit with Israeli scientists and explore the Australian Government’s Tel Aviv Landing Pad program.

Global accelerator program

In 2016, we successfully partnered with the Victorian government and other partners to bring a global startup accelerator competition to Australia. The inaugural Bridge to MassChallenge Australia competition provided intensive mentorship and training, with the Australian winners progressing to the international finals.
